Project Overview

For this Work Integrated Learning Campaign, Hidden Z partnered with Western Alumni to launch a pilot outreach initiative aimed at securing hosts for student experiential learning opportunities. From internships to co-ops and placements that bridge the classroom with real-world careers. The goal: help ensure every Western student has the chance to apply their learning before graduation.

Rather than presenting generic program messaging, the work focused on real students, real skills, and real potential. Conceptually elevating interns as valuable contributors and future leaders.

The Challenge

Experiential learning can feel abstract to industry partners: “What exactly does a student bring to the table?” The campaign needed to flip that perception. Instead of talking about hours or roles, we wanted to make the value human, personal, and aspirational. Showing that interns are individuals with identity, ambition, and impact.

Our Approach

We developed a suite of visually cohesive campaign materials that combined stylized aspirational portraits with student names and core traits. Each image underscored the student as a distinct professional ready to contribute.

Photography was central to this approach:

  • Portraits aimed to reflect individuality and confidence
  • Styling and lighting conveyed professionalism and narrative depth
  • Student traits were woven into the executions to humanize the internship experience


By honouring each student’s unique presence, we reframed the internship not as “extra help” but as early access to talent worth investing in.

The Result

The campaign repositioned students and internships as valuable assets for employers, emphasizing mutual benefit: host organizations gain fresh perspectives while helping shape tomorrow’s talent. The imagery and messaging worked in tandem to support Western’s broader direction toward universal student access to work-integrated experiences.

This work is a visual argument for why mentorship and opportunity matter.
